High Definition Broadcasting

High Definition Broadcasting or Television (HDTV) is broadcasting with a higher resolution than standard broadcasting. In other words, you can see a lot more detail on the screen due to how many megapixels are in the frame.

It displays around five times as many pixels as standard broad casting and comes in two main formats. These are 1080p, meaning there are 2,073,600 pixels, and 1080i, meaning there are 1,036,800.

'p' stands for progressive and 'i' stands for interlaced which are different ways of showing the lines in each frame.
